Family Programs Intern

The Family Program Intern will revamp the Walters’ Art Cart, a mobile cart with family-friendly resources, including books, games, costumes, drawing kits, and other activities that relate to our collection or general art concept. The Art Cart provides families with opportunities to take a break and to play, and is a springboard for gallery exploration.


  • Assist education staff and interact with diverse families at the Art Cart
  • Hone research skills while learning about other museum’s interactive resources
  • Maintain inventory and learn evaluation techniques in order to assess current resources and recommend changes
  • Create interpretive materials


  • Knowledge of art history
  • Experience creating innovative and interactive experiences for a multi-generational audience in informal learning environments
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Some weekend availability (the Art Cart is staffed on Saturdays and Sundays)
